How do you reckon Isayama got the translation so horrendously wrong? Was he trying to make a Japanese pun which got lost in English?

Probably just due to simple lack of knowledge, I mean word play and semantics are pretty advanced, linguistically speaking. To use them accurately and well requires good command of whatever language you're using.

Really? You need to ask why a Japanese author couldn't properly translate his title into coherent English? As if grammatically awkward, nonsensical English titles provided by the Japanese themselves are a new thing?

About the only really complex thing about the Japanese title is that, as is often the case in Japanese, it's not clear from looking at it that it's referring to

You know, on a different forum, someone actually figured out the twist at the end of this chapter last month. So my reaction this time was less of a "Say WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT" and more of a "Oh, cool, that guy was right!"
