I watched a few episodes of an anime with these people. All I remember I think is that they were all being trolled by a guy called Kubo or something.

Recently started Dragon Age Inquisition which I got discounted at some point but never started playing because I had other shit to play. This is my first DA game so I had no idea what to expect but it seems good enough. For now I'm somewhat pissed that I'm getting new quests five times faster than I can complete them. It's all getting a bit overwhelming but it looks like there isn't a lack of content. It's hard to not compare everything to Witcher 3, which is unfair since you can't expect every game to be that good, but to make the comparison anyway, with W3 I found the world to be so large and well structured that I could complete many quests without stumbling upon a dozen others on the way. Maybe DA is trying to fit more content in less space, or something, and that is why a simple horse race sidequest ended up in me discovering a Rift that just happened to be on the course.

It's also hard to not make a comparison to FF12's Gambit System for AI-controlled party members. It seems a lot more simplistic in DA:I, which is both good and bad in that it looks like one can get effective results with less effort, but also less fine tuning for when you want to do more than that.

Anyway, even with these unavoidable comparisons it seems fun. The main new thing seems to be the whole deal with managing the members and troops of an organisation alongside your own exploration, which isn't being used to do anything ground-breaking so far, but I think has the potential to lead to some interesting gameplay as things expand.

Playing Stellaris right now. Really awesome grand space strategy game. It's basically Civilization IN SPACE, done right. The only complaint I have is that the combat system is rather simplistic and if it had to come to that I would have rather had it be turn based rather than real-time, since anyway it's basically "two armies butt heads, the strongest one wins", with no tactical maneuvering or anything of the sort allowed. But it's a pretty minor issue, the meat of the game is logistics, management, strategy and diplomacy and it does mighty well on all those departments, plus it adds quite a bit of emergent storytelling to spice it up. I still haven't managed to get to the end of a game though (done fucked up my first two times as my empire was lagging so far behind the others I thought it better to just hit the reset button) and am eager to see what these "end game crises" things are. I understand it's stuff like Progenitor races sweeping in to fuck everything up, Ascended beings from other planes of existence showing up and so on - your typical Space Opera final boss, basically.

Playing Super Robot Wars V, and I think this is now my favorite new game. I've never seen any of the anime involved, but I already love the characters so much they're going on my must-watch list; not to mention the plot is amazing, written in that high quality Banpresto's famous for.

Deploying Ryoma Nagare on the field is so much fun when HEATS starts playing during his turn. I just enjoy that bgm theme for whatever reason. XD

Mazinger Zero is also a one-man army. It literally kills everything in one or two shots, and Kouji's screaming makes it even more impressive. ...It makes "Breast Fire!" even more terrifying, alongside the fact it shoots straight in the player's face. Behold! (Oh man, now I want Kenji Akabane in One Piece as a hotblooded character.)

Just finished The Sexy Brutale. Fantastic little game that's not getting enough attention.

Think about it as Groundhog Day the game. You're Father Lafcadio, caught in a Saturday that infinitely repeats. Your task is to figure out why and how each other guest gets murdered by the The Sexy Bruale's (an old casino mansion) staff, and stop them one by one, resetting the day as many times as you need to do it.

That reference is so 90s normies. A real millennial otaku would obviously bring up Re:Zero.

Aside from my constant Pokémon-playing where I'm taking a short break at the moment after having cleared four Nuzlocke-runs in three months, I have been playing a bit of Breath of the Wild. Unfortunately as I own neither a Wii U nor a Switch I've had to settle for playing it at my sister's house so I haven't been able to get very far, but... by the goddesses this game is everything I ever wanted after the nightmare of hand-holding and linearity poorly disguised as open-world that was Skyward Sword. The game just gives a very basic introduction to the system where for the most part you actually learn the mechanics by doing stuff rather than having everything spoonfed to you, and after that's over, while the game does technically tell you to go to Kakariko Village where you'll get more info on the main quest, you're actually free to go anywhere. So far I've mostly just been completely sidetracked by a strong urge to explore because holy sheet this game world is gigantic and actually makes me want to check what's out there.

Also there is no Fi. Or indeed, no companion character in general. Halleluiah!
I got to borrow my sister's Wii U and so I have been able to play this game one helluva lot more. Doing so has caused me to notice a few shortcomings the game has, namely...
1: Breakable weapons, or rather, the fact that they break way too fast. Whenever I get a strong weapon it seems to be gone five minutes later.
2: Rain. It comes way too often and is obnoxiously restrictive what with how it renders Fire and Bomb Arrows useless and makes climbing borderline impossible. People who haven't played the game might not see any real problem here, but trust me, climbing is a huge part of this game and being unable to do it really limits where you can go completely arbitrarily. Also there's a few quests that require you to bring a special kind of magic fire from one place to another... and these quests are just inherently impossible to do whenever it rains. :-_-

...But aside from that I'm loving the game. I like how they keep the obligatory cutscenes and plot stuff to a bare minimum, leaving most of the lore and character-exploration for sidequests. Means that if the player wants to know all that stuff, they can find it on their own and players who would rather just play the game and skip the story... can. Also probably makes the game a whole lot easier to replay, as opposed to say, Twilight Princess with its two-hour tutorial cramming every game mechanic down the player's throat in painstaking detail.
This sure is a signature.

CD Projekt Red just gave a free copy of Witcher 2 to people participating in the closed beta of Gwent. Best game company ever.  :face-cool

Damn, that's pretty cool of them but doesn't really affect me. I already have had Witcher 1 & 2 on Steam for years, but I dropped Witcher 1 ages ago (it hasn't aged well) and and haven't even touched Witcher 2 because I'm a bit of a completionist so I want to finish Witcher 1 first even though I don't even like it. :face-rofl Now if they gave away Witcher 3, I might have had the motivation to start Witcher 1 again...

GOG.com now opened the beta for GWENT and gives away Witcher 1 if you join. I tried it, and well... it's your usual free TCG, meaning it's full of crap for sale and monetization and if you're not willing to spend money it's grindy as hell.

In addition to that, the game just doesn't strike me as very good? The strategy seems basic at best. It ain't Magic The Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh for sure. You just pile up monsters with minimal interactions until you have more attack than the opponent.
