I just finished watching the FMA: Brotherhood movie...
Final thoughts: ...Eh. The story kinda didn't make sense, the animation was inconsistent as fuck, and at times it honestly felt more like Dragon Ball Z than Fullmetal Alchemist. (There was a freaking BEAM-STRUGGLE during the climax of the film, for crying out loud!) It's far from the worst thing I've seen and I will admit that some of the action-scenes were reasonably cool, but, yeah, really not all that good.

I'll probably skip it. I haven't heard anything good about it yet.

Finished episode 4 of Another. I'm never taking the elevator again.  :uwaheq2

What the fuck am I watching. This is just bizarre!  :argh I finally caught up to episode 7. Now, any thoughts who the "dead" might be? Misaka Mei seems to be too obvious, but I think someone else that is not mentioned much is the "dead" person this year. Hard to tell really, but this show is really suspense and interesting to follow. Seems like a good candidate to be this season's winner.

Lol, the umbrella one was worse. Another is easily this season's winner, but that's not saying much, considering there is nothing to campare it with.

Another seems to be one of those series that's quality will rely heavily on the ending. As for the series itself, it's absolutely dripping with atmosphere and tension, aided by its great animation quality. It's been mixing psychological and physical horror beautifully so far, like a horror anime should. And it's by no means overdoing the gore aspect to the point of making it less impactful, unlike some pieces of shit we know *cough* Elfen Lied *cough cough*. Add some credit for originality, and I'm sure it's the season's best so far.

Dropped Black Rock Shooter because it's fucking awful

Franchise based on nothing but stupid fanboyism of a single character design and nothing of substance? Awful? NEVER!

I took the initiative of predicting how bad it would be and not watching it at all. Well, I saw the OVA, which was absolutely terrible anyway.

Me at the start of the season: SYMPHOGEAR IS THE BEST SHOW THIS SEASON!

Me now: WTF IS THIS

Me at start of season : Symphogear is pretty meh. It would be good if not for the blatant song marketing, generic ripoff of FF10 storyline, forced moe main character, and other typical bullshit standards of modern anime/

Me now : Haven't watched any more actually.

But if someone who was sucked into the hype is already starting to see the fail, someone like me who saw past the bullshit from the start probably won't enjoy it much at all -_-
Might drop.

So.. I finally started watching some shows. I watched the first episode of both Nisemonogatari and PoT 2... and I'm left with mixed feelings.

To begin with, I can really feel that I've become somewhat alienated from anime as compared to what I felt when I watched before. When it comes to Nisemonogatari.. I'm really not sure what to say. I feel brainfucked. I wouldn't say it has ecchi undertones but rather perverted undertones - the difference is that it's perverted in words and not really pictures. I don't like that aspect of it, but quite honestly, based on episode one, I wouldn't say it is innocent but rather harmless.

When it comes to the real heart of the story and anime... I'm conflicted. I like the art in the sense that it's unique and expresses itself well, but at the same time it's not something marvelous or anything. The same goes for the actual dialogues - it has some good moments and is quite alright at times.. but very far from overwhelming, closer to underwhelming if anything.

I really enjoyed Bakemonogatari and despite the flaws that I've seen already of Nisemonogatari, I think it will end up being quite a good show. I hope the dialogue picks up and that the perverted undertones lessens, but I feel the latter will not happen in the force I want.

Moving on to PoT2... I knew that the previous season was rather ridiculous and childish when I watched it some time ago. It over exaggerated things a lot to give on example.. but despite that, I ended up having quite a good time. I love the moments when characters overcome their limits and do their best etc - just like I enjoy watching exciting matches, and there were quite a few of those. So, with that being said, the first season could quite simply be summed up as this: It's enjoyable and exciting, but it's quite childish with it's over exaggerated nonsense and special moves.

This sequel or season, whatever you want to call it, feels just like that. Over the top, childish, but do I want to watch more and do I like it? Yes. It's not something I would pay a hundred bucks to watch or anything like that, but overall.. it's quite alright. It's the kind of series I would love and do love to marathon.

I give both of these series a 7/10 as it is now. They're a far cry from a lot of series right now, and frankly when looking at series like Chihayafuru and comparing it to.. say, PoT2.. the latter feels extremely underwhelming.

To sum up all the things I've said so far: I'm disappointed that Nisemonogatari's first episode had perverted undertones, but it was harmless and overall I'd say the episode was decent enough. I expect more from the series in the coming episodes though, especially from the dialogue. PoT2 feels just like the first series - it's enjoyable and exciting at times, but it's full of clichés and childish over exaggerations such as completely unrealistic moves, to name one thing. Despite its obvious flaws however, I like these kinds of series somewhat - especially since they make for a good series to marathon.

Every other time I look at Sankaku there seems to be a screenshot gallery of the perverted scenes of each week's episode.

Even the one asking "where did all the ero go" seems to show a lot of blatant fanservice

How do people go on about this being some sophisticated anime again? From everything I've seen and heard of it, it looks like yet another cheap thrill anime which gets rabid fanboys who defend it to the death even though it it throws ecchispam in your face as subtly as a brick.

Oh please, I'm not going to visit links to Sankaku Complex, but it's very very far from being hentai or porn as one of your links described, at least based on my observations of the first episode. They could've easily shown panties all over the places but they did not. The focus was clearly more on the wording rather than panties or the likes.

I'm absolutely sure there are perverted scenes every now and then, but not so far as to make it porno. Blatant fanservice? I will give you that though. I could easily have lived without it, and would rather.

Look - I'm not trying to argue that lolicons fans wouldn't love this series, I'm not saying there are not some scenes which are rather inappropriate - but it's still extremely far from porn. The story so far didn't leave much of an impact but if the dialogue becomes as good as it was in the first series then that's something to look forward to.

The way I see it, lots of people enjoyed Bakemonogatari and don't want to admit that a related sequence is a mad ecchifest. That's why they are disproportionately defensive about it. I'll never know for sure unless I watch it, but that's the impression I generally get. And I'm not sure if I want to watch it with all I've seen of it.

I'm probably saying too much about something I haven't seen, but the old cliche about there not being any smoke without fire would seem to apply. There's a hell of a lot of smoke, so I'm guessing there's a fire.

Just so we are clear, I wasn't pissed or anything. I think your concern itself is valid, based on all the screenshots flying around the web, but I don't think you have much to fear. I have no real clue how this series will be in the end though - I've just watched one episode after all. I only have the previous series to base it on, and I'm quite sure this will have a lot more fanservice.

My main point is as I said this: Lolicons will probably like this series. It does have fanservice in terms of dialogue etc to those who like that sort of things. But it does have content if you look past that - and I'd imagine most people would watch it for that, and not the other way around.

Regarding your comment about a mad ecchifest, again - it might be. I have only watched one episode so I can't really speak much about the anime at all. But just based on my observations from episode one, I think it's far from being on a level to be called ecchi.

Man.. feels like I'm just rambling nonstop. I'll just say one thing - I really loved Bakemonogatari, and that's why I'm giving this sequel a try. I don't think it will be quite as good and I think there'll be a heck of a lot more fanservice, but nevertheless.. I think it will end up as a rather decent anime overall. It all depends on the episodes I have yet to watch.
